Those cheeky kids at Buzzfeed have compiled a list of 19 Reasons British Fast Food Is Way Better Than American Fast Food--and they are entirely right. For just a few pounds, you can enjoy savory pasties, juicy bacon rolls, and meaty kebabs, which are all clearly superior to the cheap, easy access corporate hot dogs, hamburgers, and tacos you'll find on our side of the pond. Battered sausages are greater than corndogs, Buzzfeed. Preach!

It looks like a 7-11, but there are actually so many nutritious things in there.[/caption]

However, they mostly gloss over the fact that there are also better inexpensive healthful dining options as well. Tip for the budget-conscious traveler: Visit the supermarkets! The Tesco £3 meal deal will get you a drink, a snack, and a sandwich of surprisingly good quality. And if you see the bright green sign of a Co-operative Food in the distance, then you know you'll soon be able to buy some healthy eats. Even those fancier places like Waitrose, Asda, and M&S all have pretty delicious takeaway items near the register at nowhere near the cost of, say, Whole Foods. Plus, there's the added bonus of feeling intelligent and virtuous while shopping because you do not recognize any of the tabloid celebrities on their magazines.

Seriously, who are all you people? Wait, don't tell me! Feels good not knowing.[/caption]

It seems the supermarket culture over there is just more conducive to the fast, healthful takeaway lunch.

But best of all, there's Aldi. It's actually a German chain, but even so, God bless the Queen and Aldi! A weary traveler can pop in and grab tons of nutritious items at a bargain price that will shock. Sure, you have to bag it yourself but that just makes you feel like you're getting away with shoplifting.

See? That sandwich was just 89p! And it was delicious! That entire lunch--yogurt, flapjack bar, drink, coffee, and sandwich--all together cost less than £3.

Since I thought it was a fluke, I went back the next day and bought even more.

Sandwich, yogurt, walnuts, crispbreads, and water all for less than £3. Don't believe me? Check out the receipt!

That's money saved for trains, hotels, and theaters! Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for a British supermarket invasion. Thankfully, at the rate they're dominating, it's only a matter of time.
